As a matter of fact, I bowled with a lady professional bowler. She was among the top 50 lady bowlers in the nation at one time. She bowled and finished well in numerous tournaments but did not make a living at all. The best move she ever made was to take an IT job where she made more money than all but the top few lady bowlers plus she had benefits and retirement.
Since she left the ladies' tour things have only gotten worse for the lady pros. Their tour has folded for the most part. Being the top lady bowler in the nation now probably nets them very little.
It is kind of like something I heard on the old Becker TV show "Fair is place with a midway and rides."
